The Role:
As our IT Systems & Support Lead, you'll take hands-on ownership of day-to-day IT support and systems across WeBuyVintage.
Based in Cambridge, you'll support colleagues across our offices and nationwide field-based teams, both in person and remotely. You'll ensure the laptops, tablets, phones, systems and connectivity our teams rely on are secure, reliable and running smoothly, taking ownership of technical issues through to resolution.
Alongside day-to-day support, you'll play a key role in developing and scaling our IT environment as the business grows. This will include managing our growing device estate, improving our systems and processes, working with external IT partners, and leading significant projects including our company-wide document-management solution and the technology workstream for our upcoming Cambridge office move.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership and autonomy. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving how things work and can help us build an IT function that scales with the business.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
IT Support
Provide day-to-day technical support across the business, remotely and on-site in Cambridge.
Support our nationwide field-based Buying teams with issues affecting laptops, tablets, phones, connectivity and other technology.
Remotely support colleagues and devices based at our Leeds and Darlington locations.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, access and system issues, prioritising business-critical incidents that could disrupt our operations.
Manage support requests and work effectively with external IT providers where additional or specialist support is required.
Devices & Equipment
Own the day-to-day management of company laptops, tablets, phones and other IT equipment.
Prepare, configure and test equipment for new starters, ensuring everything is ready for day one.
Manage returned equipment from leavers, including resetting, repairing, replacing and preparing devices for reuse.
Maintain an accurate IT asset register and manage device stock, lifecycle and replacement requirements.
Coordinate repairs and troubleshoot damaged or faulty equipment.
Systems & Security
Support and administer Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, Active Directory / Entra ID and our wider SaaS environment, including Slack.
Manage user accounts, permissions and access, including joiners, movers and leavers.
Support networking, Wi-Fi, VPNs and connectivity.
Maintain strong IT security standards including endpoint protection, patching, device security and access controls.
Help develop effective backup, business continuity and incident-management processes.
IT Projects & Improvement
Lead the project to establish a centralised company document-management platform, assessing options including SharePoint and Google Drive, recommending the best solution and supporting its implementation and migration.
Lead the technology workstream for our upcoming Cambridge office move, ensuring the new office is technically ready for employees from day one, including internet connectivity, Wi-Fi and network infrastructure, meeting-room technology and equipment.
Identify opportunities to improve our systems, processes, security and employee IT experience.
Support technology rollouts, system upgrades and new business requirements.
Build clear IT documentation, processes and guidance as the business grows.
Recommend appropriate hardware, software and technology solutions.
Who We’re Looking For:
You'll be technically confident, proactive and comfortable taking ownership. You'll enjoy getting stuck into day-to-day problems while also looking for ways to improve the bigger picture.
You’ll be great in this role if you have:
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Strong experience in IT support, ideally at 2nd/3rd line or senior level.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 and experience with Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID.
Strong hardware, software and networking troubleshooting skills.
Experience supporting laptops, tablets, mobile devices and remote users.
Experience configuring and deploying equipment to employees.
Good understanding of networking including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi and VPNs.
Strong understanding of IT security fundamentals and user-access management.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical issues and projects.
Able to work a four-day week rostered across Monday–Saturday.
Desirable:
Experience supporting a field-based or multi-site workforce.
Experience with Microsoft Intune or another device-management platform.
Experience with SharePoint and/or Google Workspace.
Experience managing IT asset inventories and device lifecycles.
Experience working with external IT support providers.
Experience leading IT improvement or migration projects.
What You’ll Get:
4-day working week We operate a four-day working week. As parts of our operation run across Monday–Saturday, working days for this role will be rostered across those days in line with business requirements.We're developing our wider IT support model to ensure appropriate coverage across our operating days, alongside external IT support and our growing internal IT capability.

The salary for this role is £40,000 - £45,000 p.a.
The role is based in Cambridge, with our Leeds and Darlington locations and nationwide field-based teams supported remotely. Regular travel to our other locations isn't required.
